(de) wrote: Such great talent waisted on a bad story. The acting outshined the plot entirely. So much potential with such little guidance.
(fr) wrote: A visual feast with a lot going on under the surface. Repression, sexuality and guilt are some of the themes running through what I thought was simply going to be an ode to the Giallos (which I'm not a huge fan of). Will be a very easy film to rewatch, probably gaining some new insight from each viewing.

(jp) wrote: It's a silly, gleeful story of a wannabe Yao Ming turn ping pong champion. There are so very funny parts, none of which ae really crude in any way. Good for all audiences.
(kr) wrote: Persepolis delicate-yet-daring scope shows an often overlooked, terrifying side about femininity when repression always strikes in different forms no matter where.

(gb) wrote: Another one of Corman's no-budget quickies, and it plain sucks. The production value is extremely low. The film quality is grainy, the audio is barely audible in a few places, and the monster looks like a guy wrapped in a carpet with ping-pong eyes glued on. The acting does not save much, most are either phoning it in or are completely miscast for their parts. Don't be fooled by the title, the so-called creature is barely in the movie. The movie is actually a terrible crime thriller with incompetent comedic bits. The only saving grace of this film is the monster and that is only because of it's ridiculous design.
(de) wrote: AVOID.....This is without a doubt the worst movie I have seen in ages. Kevin Bacon is wooden and about as convincing a Brit as Ghengis Khan, the dialogue is atrocious, it has pseudo mythical claptrap all the time (no idea why), the directing is lame , Djimon has 2 gunshot wounds at one point, later that day - not even a scratch!! Utterly atrocious. AVOID
(fr) wrote: I was able to bear it only up to around 30 minutes, after which I was unable to take the torture anymore. Though appreciated & applauded by lots, this one's obviously not my cup of tea.
(fr) wrote: Jack the Giant Slayer is a cgi delight that nearly matches the visuals and fantasy immersing effects of middle earth. The characters follow a pretty basic fairy tale background: Hero, Damsel in Distress, villain, his jerk sidekick and of course the supernatural; as you would expect, not much of a plot. One really can't help but marvel at the world created and some very impressive visual scenes. Aside from the cheesy romance and the obvious other film errors, this is a fun film and quite an adventure too.
(fr) wrote: Uday Hussain makes Tony Montana look like a choir boy... Although the story of Latif Yahya contains many holes and he has recently been accused of lying and making up most of it, the script is nonetheless gripping. Director Tamahori does a good job with this one. Dominic Cooper and Ludivine Sagnier are superb in their roles. Still quite entertaining.
(kr) wrote: It aped several other movie's and it's characters could have been much more developed; but it's a freakish horror film worth watching.
