(au) wrote: Two words. Holy Shit! What a performance by Shahid, guess one of the best meaningful movies he have ever done. The story does raise some eyebrows as you would think its putting terrorist supporters at good spot. However, I compared the movie and the situation in 1989 in J&K with the post 9/11 interrogation and tortures. Both were wrong. Although the forces have to do what they can do to protect and prevent national interest, the movie shows the point of view of the people who seldom get a chance to explain their side of story and gain humility.

It is not a slow paced movie for sure. The story is also very interesting containing just enough elements to surprise and entertain at the same time. The ending is also done very nicely. The effects are not the best ever seen , but sufficient. The acting was also very good. I admit some of the suporting characters felt a bit dull and may not really believable. But it works. In a nutshell , go watch it and be amazed how good a movie can turn out even if you never heard of it.

(br) wrote: A sobering look into the final march. 'Taking' doesn't sell an anti-war message, but it also doesn't glorify war -- it's a touching, true-life look at the reality of the care given to a fallen Marine from the eyes of a senior officer who feels that he, himself, owes more. The film is well written, acted and shot. It is worth your time, but you will be dabbing your eyes. Besides, who doesn't like Bacon?
(jp) wrote: An informative but disappointing doc that disengages the viewer through its self-absorbed style. How necessary is it to show the helicopter explosion that Sabrina describes in a dream? Or Saddam Hussein dropping an egg on a platter? Such excess obscures where previous Morris films, in their restraint, have clarified.

(kr) wrote: This film is very funny for all that. It doesn't propose to be clever or sophisticated, this is the birth of Allen Humour and for a lot of his fans remains one of their most cherished films of all.
(br) wrote: It's a good movie. Though it is based purely on fiction, the make-believe depiction of the scenes makes it worth viewing. The main roles played by Richard Burton and Clint Eastwood did justice to their reputation. Overall a good movie indeed.

(es) wrote: It's 2017 and this movie is now 17 years old. I just watched it for the first time and I think it was good. I enjoyed the cast, which was your typical late 90s / early 2000s action and sci-fi cast. I was most intrigued and not at all let down by the story of Mars as a planet and how it evolved into the cold and desolate planet that it is today. It's a solid movie. Give it a watch.
