You can see the attempt at capturing White's penchant for strikingly visceral leitmotif - think flies on preserved fruit or worms in dark earthy soil - but it's far too literal an interpretation of work that is literally dense and packed full of humanity. Something a little bit more PoMo or original in the presentation may have lifted the film to great heights. As it stands it is a nice film with particularly nice performances and nice costumes and nice sets. And not much else.

A treasure map in two parts, two brothers, a plane crash, an island, bad guys, yada yada, they find the treasure. Well photographed, well acted, some good action scenes but mostly formula. It is worth the time to watch, but, there are other better action/adventure movies.

Things to look out for in this: Ellen Page is in it (she played Kitty Pride in X-Men: Last Stand) and it was flimed and takes place where I live. Yay! We don't get many movies shot around here.

All very compelling. And the story idea is actually very good. It's badly executed though, with bad acting and terrible dialogue, some mild sexism and a few radical plot lurches But I enjoyed it . And the cyborg who sounded like Charges Dance turned out to be Charles Dance!

When heavy fog cancels their flight they are stuck spending christmas with their families. Both parents are divorced so they have to go to four houses in one day and the result is outrageously comical. These families will make you appreciate yours. First Vince Vaughn and Reese Witherspoon together were great. The chemistry between them was perfect. They were fantastic together. Plus there's a fantastic lineup of others including Robert Duvall, Mary Steenburgen, Tim McGraw, Dwight Yoakam, Jon Voight, and Sissy Spacek. You will definatly laugh out loud at this one. It will keep you laughing through it most of the time. I just love Christmas movies and this one will lineup to be one of the greats in my collection.
