(us) wrote: It's sad that such a talented actor, capable of portraying one of the greatest characters in film (Clarice Starling) would stoop to this Oscar bait crap. One of the least sincere dramas in the last few decades.
(au) wrote: Society is a movie that feels very, very dated. It gets very campy at times and eventually falls on sheer sensationalism to simplify the plot, which could have leaned towards a more subtle and surreal tone. However, I am a fan of the body horror genre, and this movie never left me bored in that department; Society proves to be an enthralling if a bit ridiculous movie perfect for the Halloween season.

(de) wrote: I didn't like it. The arty flashbacks and flashdreams were annoying. Most characters were unlikable. A lot of the plot was boring too. Maybe I'm the wrong audience for this film.

(es) wrote: Excellent adventure film starring Gary Cooper as a man caught up in a Spanish war who helps a group of gypsies who are hiding in a mountain. To be honest, I didn't know what this book/movie was about, so I was pleasantly surprised when I watched it. Though it's nearly three hours, I was never bored and it actually flew by. Cool action moments, nice ensemble, it's cool that Katina Paxinou won Best Supporting Actress as the gypsie leader in the mountain. Beautiful use of color, I especially loved the scene at night with Gary Cooper and Ingrid Bergman, just having them on the mountain underneath a moonlit sky, it was classic Hollywood, I wish that stuff still existed. Sure, this has a lot of the action/war cliches, but it was done well, it's a really great movie.
