(de) wrote: Decent story, but the acting (apart from Carrie Fisher) was pretty abysmal. Also, most of the "biographical" information concerning Jesco White is just plain false. I'd recommend The Wild and Wonderful Whites of West Virginia to this if you want the real Jesco White story.
(ca) wrote: Simple, sensible . Perfectly directed and well acted. Jyotika and Prithvi both did an amazing job. Especially Jyotika, to not have to say a dialouge and still steal the show with such ease, kudos.

(nl) wrote: couldn't watch it all - very slow and subtle but really just not very funny, relying one one main precept. just because its foreign and has wone some awards DOESN'T mean its actually any good

(nl) wrote: An extremely corny and dated 80s teen flick. I used to watch this growing up and its kinda inapprop lol. Kinda like a shallower, less believable Cant Buy Me Love but with a girl as main character. I have to admit tho i still liked watching it a little bit, but movie got less interesting as it went on esp with all the stupid fluff pop song sequences and predictability with powers. Also i think the messages of film are bad. For instance if ur friend becomes more popular u shouldnt be mean to them and number two you shouldnt be obsessed with a boy who couldnt care less about u normally. Some enjoyable parts tho are the voodoo doll for the teacher scene, the makeover, the witch lady, and some of the beginning scenes as main girl is very relatable even film stinks.

(nl) wrote: Amazing that this was shown on the BBC as a tv series, we watched some at Primary school!!!! really dark but fantastically written.
(fr) wrote: I watched it because Lennon was in it but it ended up being a really good action comedy.
(au) wrote: People definitely shouldn't take Stanley Kubrick for granted, 'cause every time he says that he wants to make a movie different from his previous one, he always deliver. "Full Metal Jacket" is as different from "The Shining" as two movies could possibly be, and yet they are also similar in some ways. The concept of insanity lures in both movies and are shown in very successful ways both times. The first half of "Full Metal Jacket" blew me away and I enjoyed every single insult that came out of the mouth of Sergeant Hartman's mouth, who were beautifully portrayed by R. Lee Ermey. The second half, however, was a bit disappointing, because it took some time for me to get used to the new warfare surrounding, which wasn't really present at all in the first half of the movie. Matthew Modine is really good in the movie and he is without a doubt the best thing in the second half of the movie. This movie is intense, it's dark and it's very good and can definitely be locked into the vault of great Stanley Kubrick movies.
(fr) wrote: This is another Spielberg film I have not seen, until now. Far better than I thought it would be. Strong performances, and even an appearance from Phil Collins, keep the film going, when things start to get too sickly.
(mx) wrote: The rest of the film may not be able to maintain what the first 25 minutes furiously establish, but Saving Private Ryan makes for some of the most realistic, and brutally honest portrayals of war ever seen on screen.
