(ag) wrote: The only reason this piece of crap currently has a 100% critic rating on Rotten Tomatoes is because only 5 reviews have been counted so far. The scene where Lois gives Brainiac the two middle fingers is a perfect summary of this failure of a film. Only giving it an extra half star for the comic book classic art in a few of the scenes. Too bad it doesn't look anything like the cover art. This only enforces my long held opinion of Superman being one of my least favorite superheroes, second perhaps only to Captain America.

Now, I'm not talking about movies such as "Coming Home" and the Oscar winner "The Deer Hunter since they only address the after effects of adapting to civilization after serving in Vietnam. Adapted from Daniel Ford novel stars Burt Lancaster as hard nosed Major Asa Barker leading his platoon to a battle fully knowing that they're not going to win. Although, it's based on a novel, the movie dwells accurately on it's ugly side by depicting the effects it has on it's unit which is way it was organised by people at the top. I just thought it was too depressing, so I'm giving this one a bare thumbs down. 2 out of 4 stars
(ag) wrote: Dolphin Tale has charming characters, fun story, solid direction, warm tone and good cinematography. It is often too sentimental and cheesy, the plot is very predictable and formulaic, the acting is nothing to write home about and there are some sequences that are totally unnecessary and those scenes prolong what should have been a short movie, but it is a children's film that is not difficult for adults to watch thanks to caring approach, heartfelt tone and inspirational real-life story. It is nothing spectacular, but it is an enjoyable little family flick, especially for children and animal lovers.
