Ian G (br) wrote: One of those B films that slip through the cracks to a festival or remainder bin near you, the Grand Piano takes the conceit of Joel Schumachers Phone booth while changing the venue and payoff to make it different enough, focusing on a anxiety ridden pianist played by Elijah Wood coming back to performing as a tribute to his mentor only to be set in a snipers sights who demands him to play the song he screwed up 5 years ago in panic for mysterious reasons. A little campy and almost 80's in concept, makes for some hookie escapism but defies being taken seriously, especially once the goal of the sniper is revealed. Meh

Elias K (de) wrote: The only reason Hollywood didn't re-shoot this, is because it's too edgy for mainstream. You know something's up, when you start hearing the thoughts of those two female roommates who auditioned for the same role in a movie. Since the characters couldn't be more different, the little taunting pretty quickly explodes into a violent rampage by two beautiful Japanese girls. A must-see. Especially due to it's cold aesthetics and reduction of the set into one shared flat.

Kristina K (jp) wrote: after I had rented that movie I was afraid of watching it because I expected a bad b-movie - I love vampires. surprisingly Dracula captured me immediately! because it is only "based on" Bram Stoker's Dracula I didn't have any problems with the fact that there are characters missing or added. the whole movie was pure fun. Marc Warren as Dracula was sexy for me, even the wizened-greenish-before-I-drank-blood-Dracula succeeded in transferring a sex-appeal (later: black hair and blond breast hairs - unbelievably great). Sophia Myles who I know from the vampire series Moonlight was great, too, and looks very sexy in vintage dresses. luckily there is no disgusting splatter. the actors are very good, Van Helsing is just sweet. There is a pinch of erotic and some shocking moments. one time I even screamed although I never do that when I watch a movie alone. very often I got goose bumps (sometimes erotic, sometimes horror, sometimes because of monumentality). a very impressive movie! ps: in my family I am infamous for the fact that I like movies which nobody else likes. They just touch me.

Richard D (nl) wrote: On the plus side, this movie has a handful of decent fight scenes and they are choreographed and shot pretty well, especially for a modern action film. That's the only thing about this film that isn't abysmal. I notice that the film's star Johan Kirsten also wrote the screenplay. You can tell. It's the adolescent fantasies of a numb skull translated into two slow, painful with hours ... with incredibly bad English dubbing.
