(mx) wrote: It's not a terrible film per se, its just that the story is fairly sterotypical and lacks any spark for a film of this genre or as I should say collection of genres; Comedy/Horror/Mystery/Thriller. For me, it doesn't really excel in any one of those specific genres, maybe because it is trying to hard to cover too many bases. All the basic conponents are there, it just lacks that extra special bit of suspense or tension which, keeps the viewer on the edge of their seat throughout the entire film. Plus, like many other films synonymous of the time, this film is just too short and doesn't really allow the story to get going and develop naturally. To me if felt like the story was going at a faster pace than neccessary but this could be due to the requirements of modern audiences worldwide. In addition, there weren't too many memorable scenes in this film either, which was a bit of a let down to me. Saying all the above, I did enjoy the reality show element to the film (even if something of a cliche) and by enlarge the acting from everyone involved was at a fairly good standard.

Everyone needs affirmation that life is not as tough as we think and human spirit will pull us through. We will buy and most certainly I will, IF this kind of movies will spare us the big speeches, the standing ovation, the coming-of-age, twisted sad faces etc. In short, cut the schmaltzy crap.I think Brassed Off get away with alot of bashing just because the characters speak with a heavy accent and the story's backdrop is a very idyllic small town.
