Patrick E (kr) wrote: Silent Venom offers everything that's expected from a film of this type. Basically a Snakes on a Train rip off but instead of the train we have snakes loose on a US military submarine. Cheesy effects, wooden acting, ridiculous plot and plot holes galore all add up to a fun B-Movie that's above average for a Sci-Fi channel offering.A couple of scientists who are conducting experiments on snakes on an island off China, need to be rescued by a submarine crew after the Chinese begin to perform military maneuvers in the area. Of course they bring their biologically altered snakes onto the submarine with them and after one of the crew members becomes too curious for his own good and releases the snakes, all havoc breaks loose on board as the snakes take a fancy to the crew members. Kudos must go to the director for insisting to use real snakes in most of the scenes. With a budget this low CGI snakes are always going to look terrible and the few scenes CGI snakes are in look, well, terrible. The only downside to real snakes is that the action suffers greatly as the same shots tend to be used over and over and the kill scenes suffer from a lack of dramatic effect. The sub-plot involving the Chinese submarines is awful, mainly because of how easily the US sub wins the battle of wills. Characters become bitten despite there not being a snake in site, the ending is hilariously bad and the roaring snakes are cheesy as hell. But we all know that these mistakes are what makes a good B-Movie and for the most part Silent Venom is interesting, fast paced, has the occasional decent bit of action and provides plenty of silly entertainment. Worth a look if you like cheesy B-Movies.

Alexander C (us) wrote: This a movie that would have been barely worth seeing 15 years ago and today it is an easy skip. Both acting and dialogue are weak and the directing is even worse. It had potential but could never be taken seriously due to over-reliance on gimmicks, ridiculous characters, and ill-fitting dialogue.
