Luke A (ag) wrote: The debut film from Blomkamp, District 9 is about a stranded alien civilisation residing adjacent to Johannesburg as refugees where an executive for weaponry is exposed to a metamorphosing chemical as he tries to save the alien race. Filmed in a documentarian style, this is a refreshing Sci-Fi film that is so technically clever it will be deemed as a classic in later years, for sure. The problem for me was that I was not emotionally invested in any of the characters and the first act of the film dragged on for a very long time. Copley was good, but nothing outstanding. The segregation between humans and the "Prawns" is an obvious metaphor for diversity and whilst this drives the film, it perhaps forces this too much on the viewer. I can acknowledge that this is a very good film and can see why so many like it, it just didn't resonate with me as much.

Matt M (us) wrote: The last psychologically troubled days of a rock star. Inspired by the last days of famous rock and roll icon Kurt Cobain, this film is not so much as disappointing a portrait as it is dull and quite unconvincing. Even as a piece of slow cinema, which in some cases is seen as a naturist's form of cinema verit, it's still hard not to see it as pretentious and aimless.

And finally almost disappointed ... in French it was called: "in bed with Madonna" so with a such title, you can guess that many young boys were quite excited just by having the VHS. She was our Marylyn Monroe. Many years after, I just had the opportunity to watch this documentary with a new look. True, she was crazy, beautiful, and above all really talented. This is an underrated documentary. Indeed there was a lot of marketing stuff at its release so I can understand that it disappointed many people (that's it the shocking doc ??!). Beside this, it remains, to my point of view, quite interesting regarding all the work it was done and it is also like watching some photos of a good friend & sharing few special moment with her. If M. Jackson is considered as the king of pop, Madonna is the queen & I definitely love her.
