Robert P (ag) wrote: The main problem here is that nothing really happens: no drama, no disruption, no nothing really. A fairly nice chap comes to Paris, meets a fairly nice woman who fall smadly in love with him and they basically get on with it. Cliche ridden, purile in places and deeply sexist. A romantic comedy that's neither funny nor romantic. If this is what passes for love and laughs in Spain, there must be a lot of bored disastisfied couples there

Jens T (kr) wrote: Ermanno Olmi's The Tree of Wooden Clogs is set in Italy during the late ninetieth century, where we follow three peasant families living together in a cascina (farmhouse) where we follow them through one years through every season. Being a peasant isn't a easy life at all, only one of the families are so fortunate to have one of their children in school, while the rest have to work hard, and don't humiliate the landlord in any way. This is quiet a great and most of all realistic portrayal of a farmer's life, all the obsticals and the joys they meet during one ordinary year. We experience all the diseases, and all the troubles with the animals. It's a film entirely about this life, showed in a realistic way without censoring, not even a pig being slaughtered. Thumbs up.
