In spite of the horrible conditions africans were put through by the Apartheid, they managed to fight back with singing. Although the personal accounts of family members losing their loved ones was heartbreaking, I found the film to be overall uplifting, about how south africans came together for one common purpose: to take back rights that were theirs to begin with.

It's all about the duty and personal sacrifice required of those in high office--oh how I wish our politicians would take this film to heart.

Omar L (kr) wrote: Technology vs. human element during the post-detente days of the Cold War. This movie could have been terrible by choosing to play the relatively flat characters as simply good or evil, but instead, they're shown to be archetypes of personalities involved in humanity's struggle to find its place in an increasingly technologically-driven world. No one does anything stupid in this movie, and that's always great to see.
