Marion R (it) wrote: To be fair I probably shouldn't even be rating this since I could only stand the beginning 40 mins of this film. What I don't get is the fact that the filmmakers had enough money for good sets and decent enough actors and yet they tried to make a spoof which just wasn't funny. It would have been better for them not trying to make a "spoof" and instead play it straight, an alien film that is just set in the fifties. The film in itself doesn't make sense if it was a film made in the 50's then why was it not shot as a fifties film or had standard dialogue. It wasn't even consistent in it's own setting. If it truly was a film made in the fifties it should have had people in crappy alien monster suits, instead we get a CGI alien which just doesn't make sense. I just didn't get the point.

Scott A (it) wrote: The movie is entertaining enough, but you could open a Dairy Factor with all the cheese in this thing. Basically an Angel is sent over a struggling family, NOT to help them get back on track, but to make the mother believe in the Christmas Spirit again. And he even allows her to go down a horrible path at one point that is way to mature for a G rated Disney flick imo!!!The acting is okay. I always dig Koteas, but his character never goes anywhere and he only has maybe two scenes. But it was fun seeing the two young girls, as one is Sarah Polley, still had awful teeth then, and the other is Elizabeth Harnois, who steals the film here with her massive and adorable eyes. She makes the film watchable. I actually watched a more recent film not to long ago of hers, Ten Inch Hero, and her eyes had me under her spell even in the present. But other than her, this film felt like a made for TV mess. Nice to see some famous actors in their youth, and it's harmless, but just not really good.

Stuart M (it) wrote: An Indiana Jones knockoff starring Spielberg's original choice for Indy: Tom Selleck. Instead of an archaeologist and his tomboy girlfriend we've got an ex-flying ace and the woman who hired him to hunt down her father so she isn't disinherited. It's not... quite as good a combination. Tom Selleck though, is every bit the drunken charming rogue the film calls for. It's a shame he wasn't in more roles like this. The rest of the cast is alright, though it does have the most racist villains I've seen in a while, with Brian Blessed playing an Afghani warlord with the same level of subtlety as, well, Brian Blessed. It feels like his failed audition reel for Ming the Merciless. The plot is solid enough, and based on the same '30s serials that Indy used for inspiration. It might not have very high stakes or the best villains but it has more flying scenes and some pretty scenery. And the action scenes aren't too bad, even if they don't compare well to Indy (what does?). There's a certain liveliness missing though and the film can never quite manage to elicit the thrills it's aiming at. Still, there's a reason these kinds of films were popular, and it does manage to pull off its adventure seeking better than any other Jones knockoffs I can think of short of The Mummy. So not a bad way to waste a couple hours.

Kyle F (ru) wrote: Excellent slasher/mystery film features a killer with knives for fingers (pre-dating Freddy Krueger). Shocking ending.

R R (jp) wrote: Frankie and Annette equal fun. In this installment the gang party on the beach in a colorful movie, that includes several outlandish plotlines to follow, singing, dancing, and special guest stars.
