Diego R (ag) wrote: A beautiful poignant film with hardcore lovemaking scenes Marlee Matlin's deaf herself seems to speak to the audience as shy reluctant Sarah who fears the world of sound because of the cruelties is something as humans can relate to watch it's gorgeous and it's beautiful retro music and cinematography makes this film stellar

Eric H (kr) wrote: The plot itself is as convoluted and confusing as a lot of the Japanse Yazuka/martial arts films are, and near to the end I'd forgotten who half the characters were and what their purpose was. But with action scenes this good, I couldn't have cared less. The first film in the US to receive an 'X' rating solely for its violence, The Streetfighter revels in its over-the-top blood letting, and is all the better for it. Mouthfuls of teeth are knocked out, a skull is shattered in X-ray vision, and the aforementioned castration scene has Chiba gleefully holding the prize possession in the air once it's been removed. Big, stupid, and very gory fun.

Joel K (es) wrote: A plot a 4th grader could think up, but the music and roller discoing are pretty cool at times. Parts of the film are absolutely hillarious, but in a laughing at not with someone kind of a way. Fans of bad movies will probably enjoy this.

Jeff A (us) wrote: Franco Nero returns as Keoma, in what is the best of the late spaghetti westerns. Unlike the hundreds of Italian westerns before it, Keoma is much more atmospheric and is laced with gothic tones with obvious inspiration from The Seventh Seal. Like Bergman's masterpiece, Keoma opens with the hero conversing with Death after arriving in a plague stricken town. He then frees a pregnant woman and acts as her protector up until the birth of her child. The cycle of death and new life is a constant theme that runs throughout Keoma. The director, Enzo Castellari, was trying to do something meaningful and poetic in a genera on its last leg.Not only does Keoma have substance, but also style. It's visually superior to most every Italian western. Castellari did something uncharacteristic of himself in the making of Keoma, he put special attention to the craft of filmmaking. All of his other films look poorly produced and sloppy. Here, the cinematography is of Leone quality, but full of atmosphere. The slow motion gun battles are gorgeous enough to impress Peckinpah. The only thing that doesn't work with Keoma is the soundtrack. The suck factor goes up when that chick's voice kicks in. The life and death symbolism and gothic style make Keoma a great film for repeat viewings. The more you watch, the more you pick up. If I ever made a western, it would look and feel like Keoma.

Tanner B (us) wrote: The Wrestler (2008) ????Mickey Rourke gives the performance of his career playing a wrestler at the end of his rope; his distant daughter provides the only hope he has for success.Audacious, visceral, and completely engrossing. Rourke is so good and so compelling here it's as if this one role is why he ever started worked in acting. Note: this is not sentimental-but extremely entertaining. Tomei is great, too.

Mark D (fr) wrote: I found this enjoyable enough. Very very 60s which i found very compelling. Stamps Cock(er)ney accent is AWFUL though. But the whole film is over the top but fun.

Aj V (mx) wrote: One of the most interesting sci-fi movies of the fifties, I highly recommend checking it out.

Josh L (it) wrote: I believe that people will study this in film school years from now. Innovative on many levels, very funny (if you have a sick sense of humor), and never slows down.
