The Neon Demon is held together by a range of near perfect aspects whether it be its all round stellar cast led by Elle Fanning, a brilliant synth/retro score composed by none other than Cliff Martinez and some of the most eye poppingly gorgeous cinematography out there. The films central message which is about vanity, cruelty and how far some will go in the pursuit of what they see in their eyes as 'true perfection' is incredibly unique, insightful actually albeit overblown by the films conclusion. It's certainly not for everyone, if you're not a fan of ambiguity, symbolism and extreme graphic content then I'd advise you to look elsewhere but if you're in the mood for eclectic arthouse then I implore you seek this out! Another masterpiece from Nicolas Winding Refn.

It was believable and well though out screenplay. He fighting sequences were amazing and Hounsou had some great combat skills. Don't let the title of the movie fool you, it's worth watching if you are into action no nonsense killing spree movie.

I don't know if it is me, but I found the music really really annoying and unfit, thus making me really uncomfortable in the moments where the movie was supposed to be comfortable... I could almost guarantee absolute boredom for about most of half the film. First half is just... plain uninteresting, and when things finally happen to happen, it gets pretty better but in absolutely no way makes up for the indifference it created... you're already bored of the characters, and you just don't care for them. it could have been good but the movie suffers from ,not many, but really bad choices.

(us) wrote: If you ever learned where Spike Lee learned to make, rather not make, movies, it must have been from Jean Luc Goddard horrible pieces of junk. Mr. Goddard gives hope to amateur, and those aspiring to amateur - like Mr. Lee, film makers everywhere. He makes the worst home movies look like masterpieces. Besides choosing some of the worst actors ever to pollute the movie screen, like Mr. Belmondo and Ms. Seberg, Mr Goddard combines them with a pointless, mess of a story glorifying criminal activities at the expense of the rest of society, incredibly unartful cinematography, along with thumbing his nose at the paying audience's faces'. Considering some of the other propagandist garbage produced in Hollywood, it's no wonder Hollywood frequently looks back to Mr. Goddard's horrendous work. Mr Goddard's work reinstills in me the belief that a campaign to recycle many of these movies into something useful, like plastic shopping bags, s much needed.

(mx) wrote: Fun to watch, has charm, and really makes you think about letting your inner kid out once in a while and not forgetting about it. I just don't feel that the conflict/problem in the film was developed properly considering it was placed alongside such playfully childish (in a good way) charm.
