Kevin C (jp) wrote: Classic nostalgia-fest. Starts off a bit FHM and its sociological credentials are a bit thin. But based on Pete Davies' excellent book this slick film offers some lively context to the improbable rise of Bobby Robson??s loveable rogues ?? including weeping Gazza ?? amid a storm of street violence, media harassment and weak lager. It??s a familiar tale, but only the hardest of hearts would dismiss its storytelling gusto and clever use of archive footage. A better world with Bobby Robson, and Lynam on the BBC. And yes the penalties still hurt.

Lester Y (gb) wrote: if you know what you're getting into, johnnie to's action sequences are quite a treat--methodical, intense build followed by a slowed-down, well-choreographed ballet of blood and gunfire, a nice blend of style and visceral thrill. suspend your preconditioned perceptions of what a state of the art action movie is for a while and enjoy.

Kevin J (it) wrote: An incredible documentary. Not so much in that in revealed new information about Joy Division, but just the amazing cinematography. I feel like this film more then any other single piece of media, perfectly captured the modern, industrial, isolated angst of Post-Punk. Control and maybe even 24 Hour Party People do a better job of actually presenting Joy Division's story, but this film just puts you in the scene, the place, and the era so much better then anything else by far.

Women have the right to decide what comes and goes with a lawyer present of course. The only other way that men can get sexual satisfaction without paperwork is by purchasing robots that service sexual needs. One night while making love to his sex robot Cherry, Sam watches her short circuit due to "bubble bath" that leaks from the sink onto the floor. He tries getting her fix, but sadly she's become irreplaceable. Grabbing the memory from the old Cherry, a determined Sam ventures off to find a new Cherry and place the memory from the old one into the new one. Did you get all of that?Sam's journey takes him to a no man's land or desert where he meets a raggedy Ann type of chick named E. Johnson to help him track a new Cherry down. When they enter an area known as Zone 7 they have to deal with a sadistic overlord named Lester who is judge, juror and executioner of the area. The deserted landscape is barren and only Lester's minions control much of it. The action scenes are stupifying including the one scene with a crane that could have easily been handled if the bad guys were smart. In order to capitlize on Melaine Griffith's oscar nomination for 'Working Girls', this film was later taken off the shelf and released due to her success. It was released on video and eventually garned a cult following when it aired on tv. Griffith herself has considered it to be her least favorite role to play, but much of it owes a great deal to her for keeping the film afloat. She's cute, charming and kick-ass. This wasn't a smartly written film and it's only entertaining value lies in Griffith's hands. This is her movie. Her character, however, would foreshadow another quirky, ass kicking character in the form of 'Tank Girl' a few years later. That film I can tolerate since it's comic bookish while this one tries to be a mixture of 'Firebird 2015 AD' and, dare I say, 'Mannequin'.
