Bill J (us) wrote: Despite the reviews saying how difficult the film is to watch, it also manages to be boring. The director makes his point early on, but then hammers at the same point, without adding much to its impact. We get it. Move on already.

Dann M (ca) wrote: A controversial historical biopic, The Conspirator is an impassioned political drama from director Robert Redford. The film follows defense attorney Frederick Aiken as he attempts to defend Mary Surratt, who's charged as a conspirator in the assassination of Abraham Lincoln, but he soon discovers that the trial is more about politics than truth. Redford takes a decidedly pro-Surratt position and is very condemning of the tribunal system that was used to try the assassination conspirators. Still, the plot addresses some fascinating issues and themes about war, justice, and law. The cast is also extraordinarily good, featuring James McAvoy, Robin Wright, Kevin Kline, Evan Rachel Wood, and Tom Wilkinson. The Conspirator takes a few liberties with history, but it's a well-crafted and compelling film that asks provocative questions.

Amanda K (us) wrote: One of the worst movies I've ever seen. Loose ends don't tie up, a lot of things just don't make sense, and it ends abruptly. The acting is sometimes laughable (especially Rhea Perlman's in one scene and all of Elizabeth Pena's), although Otto Tausig is always pretty good. Still, it's hard for me to believe that, both in his stories and in his real life, fairly younger women are attracted to this bumbling, little old man. It all just doesn't make sense!

Paul B (ca) wrote: It Happened One Night is quaint and it's occasionally very amusing, though it doesn't quite live up to some of the countless romantic comedies that it inspired, while also feeling a bit overlong by the end, which drags out its predictable conclusion.
Isadore H (ca) wrote: A very well done action movie, filled with gritty moments and intense acting. I never thought falling down a hill could be so gut-wrenching as it is in here. Lone Survivor pays immense respect to its heroes during and after the film, which I found really nice. The action scenes themselves are tense, and claustrophobic, despite being in a valley. The camerawork and lighting are incredible, and the direction by Peter Berg is incredibly good. This film doesn't pull punches, and I really appreciated that whenever a film is based on a true story. Very well done film, insane action, and a very deep movie with a surprising amount of emotional weight that I did not see coming, I recommend this movie to anyone.
