Heather P (au) wrote: My only complaint is the scene where the elementary school teacher teaches a chapter on Mexico. Her 'Mexican' costume is cultural appropriation at its worst and her facts are wrong. Cinco de Mayo is not Mexico's Independence Day and it's not a big holiday in Mexico. That almost ruins the entire movie. Technically this movie is a sequel to The Christmas Shoes, but all the relevant information from The Christmas Shoes is mentioned in this movie anyway. The Christmas Shoes is extremely depressing and boring, with terrible acting to boot, so skip it altogether. This movie, on the other hand, has great writing and great acting. There's a guest performance from Blake Shelton and NewSong, but it's not cheesy because the concert is a fundraiser that is relevant to the plot. The movie is about a transplant, so it's tragically realistic, but it's written in a touching 'everything happens for a reason' way.

Private U (es) wrote: Love in the time of time differences, by the title. Jet Lag puts two French sensations in a movie when they are the only reason to see this film, but not the most appealing one they have done. Binoche has always been sensational, but this one could be a step back. The backdrop is an airport, but somehow the story didn't connect so well with the whole airport idea. It could've happened in a train station, if you may, and even more appealing for the European audience if you can imagine. It's inevitable to compare Jet Lag with "The Terminal", which may not be any better of a movie, but at least the individual star has a chance to shine and help the other shine through their roles. The plot in here though, did not take flight until very much in the middle of the film.

Christopher H (ca) wrote: Horrible if you want to see something that isn't a poorly aged, B-movie that's peddling propoganda through concepts like racism and random acts of rape. Excellent if you are simply in the mood to see people get their asses kicked.

Martyn M (kr) wrote: Sam Shepard is superb as the tough, grizzled James Blackthorn of the title, in reality the legendary outlaw Butch Cassidy living out his later years as a peaceful horse breeder in Bolivia. An encounter with a Spanish thief leads to his ruthless streak surfacing and a deadly adventure to recover his money. A gritty and believable plot, gunplay in which guns are used as they should be (i.e. not 50 shots from a six-shooter without re-loading) and stunning scenery provide for a western that is much superior to most of the others of this genre.

He just struggles to get from third base to home - using an unnecessarily slow, deliberate plod, but only at the end. A great ride throughout, just a few boxes getting check marks to awkwardly finish the story.Lee as a thief you feel sorry for, and Connery as her gallant suitor, it's spicy and interesting with plenty to keep you fascinated.Brilliant suspense, fast pacing, and bigger than life emotions to go along w the wildly vivid technicolor ride, all culminating into a grand time with the master, despite the one overwrought, misstep - that paint-by-number explanation at the finish. A fantastic Rollercoaster ride of witty banter, laughs and thrills - fully satisfying, right up until with awkward jerk to a stop and the silent stroll just before it ends - it doesn't ruin the ride- just a quick spinout into an emotional mud bog before reaching the finish line. Not to be missed as a top Hitchcock film.4.5 out of 5
