Bonnie C (us) wrote: This director is to watch for in the future. The ability to direct movie with non-professional actors and bring such bittersweet and tender emotions for watchers is commendable. I felt like I was a part of their story and became caring for these twin sisters. Like some had pointed out, I do wish to know why Jeannie got into possibility of lawsuit by her own business partner. The movie ends in a very" open for guessing how it will turn out" ending to audience as well.

The year is 1910 and the small town in Brazil is the setting as two families have battled each other for years. The blood drenched shirt hangs outside of one home after the murder of a son. Revenge is on as that family plots against the other. Great performances. Rodrigo Santoro became a star with this film.
Daniel C (de) wrote: Kirsten Dunst who?? This movie was a drag. The old man in the movie who only had three lines was the best actor. And thats probably cause he only had three lines. Boring the entire way through, and predictable. The only thing nice about this movie is the setting.

Matt G (br) wrote: DMD is kind of a nothing movie, consisting entirely of cutesy sentimentality and racially-focused platitudes. Luckily, with two great lead performances and plenty of sweetness in the humor, the predictability and comfort win out. The fact that this is a play is very evident, with not much action, but tons of colorful and precise dialogue. A completely pleasant little grown-up dramedy.

Takabe Y (br) wrote: A Twilight Zone episode with the atmospheric and Kafkaesque sensations. The Wine Ritual sequence is wonderful, and the film itself works in the context of its time. A pessimistic, disturbing film, especially for the 'paranoiac' crowds of the sixties. However it may sounds like a didactic, 'careful-what-you-wish-for' parable for contemporary audiences.
Brad S (fr) wrote: It had been many years since I had last seen this masterpiece from the legendary Akira Kurosawa, and I thoroughly enjoyed seeing it again. It is currently #107 on imdb's top films of all-time. This movie shook up the conventions for the samurai film, and was the bases for "A Fistful of Dollars". Toshiro Mifune is awesome as usual. This film is a MUST watch for all movie lovers!
Sarah G (ca) wrote: Wow! I never rented it but always saw it on the shelf of our local video store. Recently decided to watch it and was surprised at how good it was. It was not your usual slasher movie which I thought it would be.
